End of Season lunch for the Nerja History Group.

End of Season lunch for the Nerja History Group.  Friday 29th March 2019 (No, nothing to do with Brexit !)
As last year’s visit was such a success, it was suggested that we make it an annual event. Once again, a group of  mixed nationalities set off from Nerja in 2 buses, enjoying the views over Frigiliana on the way. Once at the top of the track leading down to the village, one group alighted to walk down with Sue Harvey, looking at the plants – they were delighted to find Bee Orchids, Toothed Orchid & Yellow Ophrys as well as many other shrubs and succulents. Meanwhile, the non-walkers had a cup of coffee and then a look in the little shop where Antonio Senior was giving samples of chorizo, home-made goats cheese and local wine – purchases were made, of course. Then, the infamous bread was ready, more purchases ! There was time to look at the photo gallery in the small bar too before lunch.  The lunch was wonderful. Hot bread with seasoned oil, salad made with different fruit as well as the usual lettuce and dressed with balsamic, & patatas pobre.  The meat eaters then enjoyed wild boar in a rich sauce, the veggie’s had spinach croquetas and non-meat albondigas in a curry sauce. The postre was home-made ice cream of miel de caña (honey), which is absolutely delicious. The meal was rounded off with coffee. There was then time to look at the Chapel which was built with the financial help of a number of local people and businesses, named on a plaque outside and also, for a walk along the pretty street with its colourful doors. Some of us walked back along the track, looking at the plants again-interesting how one sees different plants from a different angle ! we then re-joined the buses for the journey back to Nerja.  All agreed it had been a wonderful day – same again next year !
