30 of us set off from Nerja to the nearby village of Moclinejo, calling in first of all to the wonderful house museum of Antonio Montanez in El Valdes. He has spent years, collecting artefacts from the local area and also, enabling local craftsmen to display their skills of designing and placing mosaics and also of wood carving. His eye for detail is excellent resulting in a superb selection of unique craft and art.
We then boarded the coach and continued on to Moclinejo itself, where we had a guided tour in English of the Bodega. This is now run by the 4th generation of family, who have modernised techniques but are proud of the museum of old equipment which they still have on view. We then had a tasting of 3 of their wines, there was time to purchase some bottles before we moved on to have a 3 course lunch in a local restaurant. Whilst in the restaurant, we were greeted by local artist Andrew John, whom I first met when I took the group there 12 years or so ago and we have kept in touch. He and his wife Jan have also been on some of our trips.
A good day was had by all !
