On Friday 18th January 2019, 36 of us enjoyed a wonderful trip to Montefrio ! As the place name suggests, it was rather cold for part of the day. We had breakfast on the way as usual and continued to Montefrio where we were met by Manolo with a mini bus for some of us and Marie Carmen, who would escort the able walkers into the town centre. We were then taken in groups, to the top of the escarpment to visit the church of La Villa, built upon a former Arab fortress where we watched a short video.
The views are stunning, it was obviously an ideal place from where to spot the approaching enemy ! After our descent, we boarded the tourist train for a visit around town, with a commentary in English. We also saw a short film about the Olive Oil process and then a tasting. We then dispersed for lunch and met for the journey back to Nerja. All in all, a most enjoyable day.
