Dear History Groupers,
A very good turnout for yesterday’s first meeting of the new year – a most energetic and lively delivery by Sue Harvey.
There are still a few places available for Friday’s trip to Ronda Vieja (Acinipo) and Setenil.
Acinipo is purportedly the oldest Roman Theatre in Spain. Its imposing presence is set in the countryside with no visitor centre and no commercial features, it is quite simply, there and we will have a guided visit. There is a gentle incline to climb in a field, so a walking stick may be useful. We then go by bus a few kms away to the unique white village of Setenil, where homes have been created from a series of caves , which somehow blend with rock formations. Here we will have a guided walking tour, starting at the top of the village and walking slowly down, hearing about interesting features on the way. There will free time for lunch and then we’ll meet again to board the bus for our journey home. The countryside on the journey and at the Roman site is stunning – bring your cameras !
We will leave SSol Capistrano at 8.00 am; Nerja Bus Station 8.05 am. Repsol 8.25/30 – ETA Nerja approx. 6.30 pmAs usual, we will have breakfast together en route and the total price per person is 30 €
